Driving across Confederation Bridge was thrilling, all you can see is sky. It is 60m at its highest level and is 12.9 km across from the New Brunswick side to the PEI side. The countryside of PEI is rolling hills with lots of beautiful green grass, trees, and red clay soil. The whole province is so clean, you can tell the pride of the Islanders. Only people born on the Island are called Islanders and everyone else is from Away.
We had a couple of days to tour around the Island before the other Angels arrived. Monday we took the Ultimate Anne Experience Tour out of Charlottetown and had an amazing tour guide Dave that taught us so much about the Island he loves. He talked the whole trip.
This is Dave, he was a retired airline pilot and has been doing the tours for approx. 6 years.
We visited Anne of Green Gable's home and enjoyed walking through it and thinking what an amazing mind Lucy Maude Montgomery had when she wrote Anne of Green Gables and what it has done for the province of Prince Edward Island. Pretty amazing.
We went to the new Glasglow Hill Golf Course and I know that Dennis, Chad, Ryan & Scott would have loved it there. PEI has over 50 golf courses on such a little island, definitely a way to keep the men busy while the women go shopping.
We drove by Lucy Maude Montgomery's birthplace on our way to the Green gables Post Office. They are celebrating 100 years so there is a special stamp out which we purchased and sent postcards to our loved ones.
I loved the colors of this quaint little fishing village.
We stood outside the Silver Bush Museum with Anne and had our photo taken. These are some of the Angels that were on the tour. Left to right: Heather, Anne, Joy, Pat, Dianne & me (Judy)
This lighthouse we just got to see from the bus so there was no climbing it.
I loved the color of these kayaks.
Lobster traps.
Dave explained how the lobsters were trapped and how they determined the size to keep.
We ended this day with tickets to the Anne Musical in Charlotttetown which was excellent and well worth seeing. We had lunch at the Preserve Co. and supper in Charlottetown at a little pub near the Arts building. It was a very fun day!
