Time continues to fly by. Sorry I was missing for a few days again but I am still not feeling great so therefore not on the computer much.
We are having a rainy and cold Thanksgiving weekend. Yesterday I went down to the hall and helped at the Trade Show for a couple of hours. Our Hospital Auxiliary had a bake sale table and basket raffle. I sat with an 80+ lady who I had the nicest chat with. I know her daughter very well. We did very well at our table considering how cold it was out.
This is our Beef & Barley Festival weekend in Russell so many of the families come home for this festival. Today I started the day with a free pancake breakfast at the community hall and there was even live old time music being played. A really big crowd was there when I arrived at 8:30am. My hubby went into Winnipeg again and I decided I did not want to make another trip there as I need to take my Mom there on Monday.
I have spent a quiet afternoon at home and when my son, Scott got home from work, we ordered Chinese food for supper. The other two sons will be over tomorrow for a turkey supper so that will be my cooking day. There is a cabaret in town tonight but I will not be going to that. They moved alot of the other activities indoors today and they set up the big bouncy game things for the kids and there were cribbage tournaments and bingo games going on. There was a volleyball tournament at the school as well as the king and queen contest. Have not heard who won that this year. Several years ago my son, Ryan was crowned King. They have a boy and girl from each are of town and also from each of the other small communities where the kids come from to go to school here. They sell tickets to raise money for grad, etc and who ever sells the most, is crowned King & Queen. They then take part in the activities during Beef & Barley Festival.
I am going to try and scrapbook for a wee while tonight and probably watch some TV.
I hope you all have a happy and safe Thanksgiving, it is a very good time to reflect on what we can be thankful. While we are giving thanks, let us please remember our troops in Afghanistan who are so far away from their loved ones, please give thanks for them too.
