If it wasn't bad enough that I fell on the basement stairs and tore my MCL in my right knee, my son Scott slipped getting out of the shower at the lake and fractured his shoulder last night. They had been ice fishing most of the day and he called about 1:30am to see if his Dad could come and pick him up. His Dad picked him up and took him directly to the hospital to x-ray his shoulder and sure enough he had fractured it. He went back to see the doctor this morning but he did not do anything different than I had for him. I had applied a sling for him to help imobilize it. The doctor will make an appointment with an orthopedic specialist for him. Scott said as long as he did not move his arm alot it did not hurt and he is too stubborn to take meds.
I also splinted my own knee as I can not get into see my doctor til Monday (I do not have much faith in the doctor on call and I have been through this medial cruciate ligament tear before b/c of a ski accident) and I applied ice packs every few hours and kept the leg elevated. The pain is some better today so I think I will mend. I am going to make an appointment with my orthopedic doctor in Winnipeg to make sure things are ok.
I have read most of the day and just finished a book by Fern Michaels called Lethal Justice. I love her books. I am now reading a book by Debbie Macomber called 16 Lighthouse Drive, this is one of the Cedar Cove Series, I also love her books.
It is extremely cold here in Manitoba, -45C with the windchill, I can tell by my North windows as they are all iced up. Obviously I have not been outside in two days as I can not see myself moving quick enough on crutches to stay warm so I stayed in my flannel PJs and read.
This photo was taken in December out my front door, we have way more snow now. I love hoar frost and was trying to get a better photo but this will have to do.
