It is my 39th Anniversary!

It is 39 years ago today that I got my first permanent pacemaker inserted, I had a couple of temporary ones before that so they could increase my heart rate and enable me to survive the transthoracic surgery. I am sure when that pacer was implanted, the doctors had no idea that I would still be alive and well today. I have had many replacements over the years (approx. 10) and I have been given at least 8 of those pacemakers to keep. A couple had to get sent back to the company because they failed early and had fluid leakage, etc. I am totally indebted to the man that invented these lifesaving devices because without it I would not be here today. I will have to take a phot of some of my pacers and post it so you can see these treasures of mine.
At the time December 7, 1967 I was the youngest in Manitoba to have a pacemaker implanted and in my hometown of Swan River I made the front page of the local paper. Everyone knew me as the pacemaker girl or the battery operated girl.

Well I am off to watch Survivor.....I will be back.
